You know what I think there is a lack of in this world? People telling each other how much they appreciate one another. Like true heart felt gratitude and love. So that is my challenge for myself for the week. To really express my gratitude when others help me out and to let those around me know what they mean to me. I would invite you all to join in!
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29) Our thoughts and our words can really change the whole atmosphere around us, both negatively and positively. With something so powerful, we may as well use it for good! Love y'all, Sister Wahlquist Spring has come to Heidelberg. No coats for a week straight! Whoot Whoot! I am not sure how another week has already gone by.... but it ROCKED!
On Monday we had a miracle in the street story- We had a little bit of time to do some contacting in the Hauptstraße. We were going along talking to people when we stopped this woman pushing a stroller. We just bore some simple testimony about the restoration and living prophets (nothing much different from our usual). As we were speaking, her eyes filled with tears. As we continued talking, she said she had goosebumps and that her chest felt warm. Then on Tuesday, we had the wonderful opportunity of driving to Friedrichsdorf to go to the temple with our lovely senior missionary couple! And as we were there I happened to run into a few members from lovely Nürnberg! Thursday we had a continuation of our miracles in the streets. I was on a split in Kaiserslautern. We were walking around on this amazingly sunny, no jackets needed sort of day. I look over and a woman walking on the opposite side of the street beams this friendly smile. I knew I had to go talk to her, so over we went and we ended up talking for 15 or 20 minutes just standing in the street. Friday we were able to go by on this woman that we had met on Monday and have a lesson with her. She just loved everything that we had to share with her. She is a sweet young mom from Croatia. And to wrap up a fantastic week, we got to go do some service with the Spanish congregation on Saturday. What did we do? Cleared a forest! We got to rake up/pick up branches from a section of land that they will soon be turning into a meadow. Nothing better than getting your hands down in the dirt! For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward. Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness; For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward. (Doctrine and Covenants 58:26-28) Open your eyes, use your talents, and change the world! Love y'all! Sister Wahlquist And it came to pass that as I was thus racked with torment, while I was harrowed up by the memory of my many sins, behold, I remembered also to have heard my father prophesy unto the people concerning the coming of one Jesus Christ, a Son of God, to atone for the sins of the world.
Now, as my mind caught hold upon this thought, I cried within my heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me, who am in the gall of bitterness, and am encircled about by the everlasting chains of death. And now, behold, when I thought this, I could remember my pains no more; yea, I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more. And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain! (Alma 36: 17-20, The Book of Mormon) As we keep our heart and mind focused on the good things, there is no room left for the bad. As y'all are enjoying spring and celebrating Easter this upcoming week, take a look at http://www.mormon.org/easter and check out the video (it's only 2 1/2 minutes long). Love, Sister Wahlquist The three small town Idaho girls went hiking to some old German ruins! :) |
